Mary Bass Whitt

Mary Bass Whitt of South Boston, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the age of 90. Born in Halifax County on December 7, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Walter H. Bass, Jr. and Clara Jane Martin Bass and was married to the late Henry Bradley Whitt. She attended Phillips Business College and worked for many years as a secretary for the State of Virginia. Mary was a member at First Crossroads Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Bass Roberts; step grandson, Bradley Wayne Whitt, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Bass Hobbs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 22 at First Crossroads Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverends Daniel Whitt and Dan Ward will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the church beginning one hour before the service.
