Mr. Adron Dearl Thompson, Sr. of 2047 Aarons Creek Rd., Virgilina, VA died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the age of 80. He was born in Rowan, NC on September 9, 1930 to the late Jason Middleton Thompson and the late Nina Brotherton Thompson and was married to Ardith Billingslea Thompson. He was a retired Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Ardith Billingslea Thompson of Virgilina, VA; two sons, Adron D. Thompson, Jr. and wife, Karon of Augusta, GA and Dwain Thompson and wife, Susan of Virgilina; three daughters, Darlene Enroughty and husband, Wayne of Augusta, SC, Denise Kinder and husband, Timmy of McClellanville, SC, and Diane Amrhein and husband, Tommy of Charleston, SC; four sisters, Ola Mae Walden of South Boston, VA, Mary Smith of Richmond, VA, Evelyn Tuck of Crewe, VA, and Christina Bowen of South Boston; a brother, Prestley Thompson of Richmond, VA; 10 Grandchildren; and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Floy L. Pope, Beatrice Compton, and Nina B. Cole, and two brothers, Joseph C. Thompson and Fred H. Thompson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Cana United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Tuesday night from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
