Agnes Hackney Murray

Agnes Hackney Murray, 84, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Duke University Hospital after a brief illness. She was born October 25, 1929 to the late Herman Otis and Annie Newton Hackney in Halifax County, Va. Agnes was a graduate of Virgilina High School and attended Danville Community College. She was retired from Burlington Industries where she worked for over 30 years. After retirement, Agnes continued her working career as a Nurse's Assistant. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Rodney Barwick officiating. Interment will follow in Oakhurst Cemetery. Agnes is survived by her son, Michael Murray of Clarksville; daughter, Bonnie Martinez of Raleigh; and brother, Gene Hackney of Lincolnton, NC.
