Alice Thomas Talley

Buffalo Junction, VA - Alice Thomas Williamson Talley, age 96, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Sentara Meadowview Terrace in Clarksville, VA.She was born on September 17, 1919 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Pattie and Robert Thomas.Alice was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Mason Williamson and Edward Talley.She worked many years as a clerk, first at Roses Department Store, then Glover Pharmacy and lastly at Vaughan’s Grocery.She was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Mrs. Talley was survived by her son, Herbert E. Williamson of Mount Eden, KY and her sister, Estelle Cox of Virgilina, VA, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by sons, Hugh Williamson, Henry Williamson and Ryland Williamson and by sisters, Carrie Spangler, Elsie Thaxton, and Gertrude Pulliam. The funeral service for Mrs. Talley will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA with burial to follow at Union Chapel Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA.The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m.The Reverend Joel Gray and Missionary Herbert Williamson will be officiating.
