SOUTH BOSTON Mr. Allen Wayne Conner of South Boston, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the age of 80. He was born in Halifax County on December 26, 1938 to the late Ernest Hagood Conner and the late Gladys Snead Waggoner. He was married to Evelyn Dawson Conner. Wayne was retired from J.P. Stevens as a loom fixer with 43 years of employment. He loved watchingwesterns on TV and was an avid sports and Nascar fan and a member of Halifax Masonic Lodge #96.He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Navy during 1955-1958.Wayne was a kind hearted, caring person with many friends whom he would do anything for. He loved his family and adoredhis wife, Evelyn of 48 years. In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he is survived by daughters, Sherri F. Bee and Barbara A. Bishop and husband, Larry; brothers, Alvin R. Conner and wife, Carol, Stan Conner and wife, Brenda, Gerald Conner, Gary Dunn, and Edwin Dunn; sisters, Dorinda C. Martin and husband, Bob, Yvonne D. Burnett and husband, Jerry and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Hugh Conner and Claire D. Davis. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with Reverend Kerry Halbert officiating.Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Scottsburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home. Online condolences may be made at www.brookslyon.com.
