Allen Ray Satterfield

SOUTH BOSTON Mr. Allen Ray Satterfield, husband of Rebecca Coates Satterfield, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the age of 73.Born in Halifax County on June 4, 1946, he was the son of Charles and Helen Carter Satterfield. Ray was a graduate of Halifax County High School, Class of 1965 and was a member of First Baptist Church of South Boston.He was retired with Centel Telephone after 13 years of employment and was the former president of the South Boston Farmers Market for approximately 10 years. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Rebecca Coates Satterfield; daughter, Amy Satterfield Wilkerson and husband, Tony of South Boston; son, Charles Allen Satterfield of South Boston; grandchildren, Madyson, Blake, and Isabel; sister, Joyce Hatcher and husband, Walter of Halifax; brother, Raymond Satterfield and wife, Susan of South Boston and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Alease Bowes of Alton; and brothers, Charles, Joe and Aubrey Satterfield. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Turbeville.The family will receive friends on Sunday at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM and other times at the home.
