Allena Wilson Elliott

VIRGILINA - Ms. Allena Elliott of Virgilina, Va, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the age of 91. She was born in Halifax County on May 31, 1925 to the late Silas Wilson and the late Myrtle Nelson Wilson. She was married to her first husband, the late Hubert Thomas “Preacher” Long, and her second husband, the late Ralph Elliott. Allena was a tight roll operator at Burlington Industries and was a member of Florence Avenue Baptist church, where she was a choir member, Sunday school teacher, nursery and VBS worker. She loved her church and her family, especially her grandchildren, her flowers and traveling. Ms. Elliott is survived by her daughters, Connie Nelson, of Oxford, NC and Myrtle “Shorty” Tuck and husband, Ronnie also of Oxford, NC; sisters, Ednes Wilson of Crewe, VA and Janie Reaves of South Boston; eight grandchildren, John Tuck, Chris Tuck, James Ray Nelson, II and wife Jennifer, Jeremy Nelson and wife Katherine, Jillian Short and husband James, Cindy Williams and husband Randy, Vicki Irby and husband Dan, and Curtis Wilson, II and wife Kim; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands, parents, one son, Curtis Wilson, son-in-law, James “Ray” Nelson, four brothers, six sisters and one great-grandson, Joshua Williams. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 3:00 at Florence Avenue Baptist Church with the Reverend Doctor Troy Rust and the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 2 to 3 pm and at other times at the home of Connie Nelson, 9557 Highway 96, Oxford, NC.
