Alma Eakes Yancey

Alma Eakes Yancey, 95, widow of Howard A. Yancey and Elmo R. Yancey, Sr., passed away Sunday, March 09, 2014 in Roxboro, NC. Alma was born February 26, 1919 to the late Rueben Thomas and Julia Frazier Eakes in Granville County, NC. She was a graduate of Stovall High School with the Class of 1936. A member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church, funeral services will be held there at 4PM on Tuesday with the Reverend Woodrow Freeze officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Yancey is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Dale Church of Greenville, NC and Sylvia and Michael Billings of Clarksville and son and daughter-in-law, Elmo and JoAnne Yancey of Durham, NC. Her grandchildren, Melissa Davis of Greenville, NC, Jonathan Billings of Clarksville and David Billings of Red Oak; and great grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Davis and Jack Howard and Henry Billings also survive. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Dunkley, brothers, Frank, Perry and Calvin Eakes, and son-in-law, SP-4 Charles L. Daniel. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 until 3:45 pm on Tuesday.
