Alta "Katie" Paschall Duncan

Alta “Katie” Paschall Duncan of South Boston, VA passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the age of 72. Born on June 20, 1949 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Alton and Alice Oakes Paschall. Katie worked for many years at Burlington Industries. She loved dancing to country music. Katie was a blessing to many in her community, spending weekends cooking and delivering meals to shut-ins.She was a devoted and active member at Bible Baptist Church in Cluster Springs. Katie is survived by her daughter, Lisa Powell; granddaughter, Tiffany Irby; sisters, Linda Laughorn and Vivian Puryear and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Dean Irby; grandson, Jonathan Irby and a sister, Brenda Cole. A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home. Pastor Chris McGhee will officiate the service.
