Anna Garrett Burford

Lynchburg, VA(formerly of Clarksville) - Anna Garrett Burford passed away at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital.She was 81 years old. Anna was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward Garrett, Sr., and the late Lessie Elliott Garrett, of Clarksville, where she was born.She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church in Clarksville.By far, one of her most favorite time periods in life was when her grandson, John Burford, was young.She loved to be with him, and would frequently take him to go swimming, play bingo, as well as to visit with family.She also loved to go dancing, and enjoyed reading about Edgar Cayce. Anna is survived by a daughter, Susan Burford, of Lynchburg, a daughter, Mary K. Callahan, of Lodi, NY, two sisters, Mozelle Thomas and JoAnn Grissom, both of Clarksville, and a brother, Andrew Garrett, of Henderson.She was preceded in death by her grandson, John Burford, her brothers Robert Garrett and Thomas Edward Garrett, Jr., and her sisters Zennie Jordan, and Hazel Hart. Services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville, with visitation starting at 1 pm, the funeral service at 2 pm, and burial to follow at the Union Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.Reverend Jane Lyon will be officiating.
