Anne Redd Irby

Beatrice Anne Redd Irby, 76, wife of Hugh Thomas Irby, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at her home. She was born March 16, 1935 to the late William Wesley and Annie Mae Parker Redd in Mecklenburg County. Employed with Burlington Industries for several years, Anne retired from ABB in 1997 after 28 years of service. She was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts for 10 years; member of Moose Lodge # 699, AARP, Halifax Regional Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers, serving as past president, and Associate member of the Virginia Sheriff?s Institute. She was a member of The Church of God in South Boston. Memorial services will be 11 AM Tuesday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Melvin Bradshaw officiating. In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by her brothers and sister-in-law, William Avery and Yvone Redd of Richmond, and Samuel Woodrow Redd of Kinston, NC. Her grandchildren, Thomas Daniel Irby Vicki of South Boston, Charles Wayne Irby, Jr. of Virgilina, Tayna Ann Irby Young Brad of South Boston, Jennifer Lynn Irby of Lynchburg, and Dillon Irby, Cody Irby, and Robin Irby, all of Modesto, CA; and great grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Irby and Peyton Leigh Irby of South Boston also survive. The family will receive friends just prior to the service.
