Annie Mae Clay Bowen

VIRGILINA Mrs. Annie Mae Clay Bowen of Hudson Road, Virgilina passed away Friday, September 20, 2019. Born in Halifax County on June 7, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Howard Clifton Clay and the late Irene Brown Clay. She was married to the late Watson Bryant Bowen. Mrs. Bowen was a member of North Fork Baptist Church. She was a retired supervisor at Burlington Industries in Clarksville. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were her life. She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Bowen Jennings (Sam Watts) of Cluster Springs and Vickie Bowen Hite (Kendrick) of South Boston; son, James Bowen (Pamela) of South Boston; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and her brother, Emmett Clay. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Dunaway and her brother, Artie Clay. Funeral services will be Monday, September 23, 2019 at North Fork Baptist Church at 5:00PM with Reverends Doug Ballew and Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00PM.
