Annie "Estelle" Irby Baynes

Mrs. Annie “Estelle” Irby Baynes of South Boston died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the age of 92. She was born in Halifax County on May 24, 1918, the daughter of the late Edward Finch Irby and Fannie Newby Irby and was married to the late Wallace Melvin Baynes. Mrs. Baynes was a retired sewer at the former Halifax Cotton Mill. Mrs. Baynes is survived by Nieces; Jean Eanes of Greensboro, NC; Dorothy Thomas Hinshaw ( K.D.) of Raleigh, NC; Juanita Maston (Wayne) of Hampton, VA; Cindy Maston (Gene) of Yorktown, VA; Paula Bryant (Don) of South Boston; Pam Dawson (Butch) of Alton; Dale Glasscock (Jimmy) of South Boston; Karen Jackson (Dean) of Alton; and Marsha Holt of Virgilina. Nephews; Jimmy Thomas (Jeanette); Eddie Thomas (Karen); Randy Thomas; Billy Thomas all of Hampton, VA; Barry Thomas of Gafton, VA; Byron Irby (Joyce) of South Boston and Duane Irby (Susan) of Scottsburg. Sister-in-laws; Katherine Irby and Mary Emma Irby. Mrs. Baynes was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; Robert Irby, William Irby, Edward Irby, Mattie Bowes, Hallie Thomas, and Billie Jane Irby.. Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
