Annie Lloyd Long of Vernon Hill passed away on July 22nd at the age of 85. She was born in Halifax County on September 16, 1937 to the late Clarence Boone Lloyd and the late Elsie Elizabeth Duncan Lloyd. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Long Sr.
Annie was a military wife and homemaker for her family. She was an encourager for her children and grandchildren and loved every one of them dearly. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan.
Surviving are her children, Roy L. “Nick” Long (Lisa), Dean Richard Long (Gaye), William Donald “Woody” Long (Melinda) and Steven Long (Gillian); grandchildren, Liz Meadows (Todd), Stephanie Bomar, Ashley Bagbey (Walter), Lauren Shrader (Brad), Zane Long (Chelsea), Brittany Johnson (Brandon), Cory Conner, Holland Long (Henry), Kayleigh Long, Joshua Conner and Cassidy Long, Harper Long and Caleb Long; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Charles Lloyd (Sandra), Roger Dale Lloyd (Robin), and Daniel Barry Lloyd (Joanne) and numerous other beloved family members.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Evan Long; brothers, William Davis “WD” Lloyd, Addie Godfrie (Dick) Lloyd and Clarence “Butch” Boone Lloyd Jr. And a much beloved cousin, Polly Lloyd Cure.
The family would also like to acknowledge the care Annie received in her final days from an incredibly understanding caregiver Shirley Younger Miles.
A funeral service will be held 11AM Wednesday July 26th at Providence Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 10AM at Providence Presbyterian Church.
