Annie Ratliff Morningstar, 85, died on April 27, 2012 peacefully in her sleep at Meadowview Nursing Home. Annie was born on March 18, 1927 to Charlie Simons 'Sim' Ratliff and Bessie Alma Harris in Halifax County. Mrs. Morningstar was a homemaker and is survived by her husband of 66 years John Wesley Morningstar, Jr. of Buffalo Junction. Annie was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Morningstar is survived by brother Robert McKinney of Martinsville and sisters, Lorene McKinney Neighbors of Scherr, West Virginia, Alma Anderson of Chase City and Mary Lou Toombs of Drakes Branch. Mrs. Morningstar is survived by sons and daughters-in-law John W. Morningstar, III, Charles E. and Donna Morningstar, and Willard Jerry and Arlene Morningstar all of Buffalo Junction, and is survived by grandchildren, David A. Morningstar, Martha Harrington, Tawny Deal, John W. Morningstar, IV, George Danforth Morningstar and Charles Alexander Alex Morningstar. Mrs. Morningstar is also survived by great-grandchildren Camrin Morten, Landon Deal, Graysen Deal, Sarah Harrington, and Noah Morningstar as well as several nieces and nephews. Annie is predeceased by her parents and step-mother Myrtle Ratliff and brothers Roy Ratliff, Willard Ratliff and Jake Ratliff. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 2:00 pm immediately before a Graveside Service at 3:00 pm at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, 1662 Carter's Point Road, Buffalo Junction, 24529. The Reverend Jim McAlister will preside. Arrangements are being handled by Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, Clarksville, VA.
