Bailey Edward Newton

Bullock, NC Mr. Bailey Edward Newton passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 72. He was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on September 11, 1945 to the late John Bailey and Annie Stegall Newton. Mr. Newton was a 1965 graduate of J.F. Webb High School. He lived and farmed in the Bullock community all of his adult life. He also served in the National Guard and was a member of Bullock Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie “Tink” Hobgood Newton and a brother, Calvin “Cotton” Marshall Newton. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kim Newton of Bullock, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and Marshall Humphries of Roxboro, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Marsha Newton of Townsville, NC and William and Earline Newton of Oxford, NC; grandchildren, Gavin Newton (Karrie), Anna Newton, Brooke Newton and Thomas Humphries; great grandson, Reid Newton and loving friend, Phyllis Blackwell of Oxford, NC. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, May 19 at Bullock Baptist Church with burial to follow at Royster Family Cemetery.Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 1 – 3 pm at the church. The Reverend Tony Futrell and Doctor Arthur Duckworth will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please consider contribution to Bullock Baptist Church.
