Clarksville, VA - Barbara Elsie Gosden Campbell passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born on July 7, 1929 in Croydon, England to the late Arthur and Elsie Gosden. She received her B.S. in Education from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. Barbara served as an educator for over 45 years teaching children from pre-school to high school during her long tenure, and was an active member of Teasippers, an English Club, where she hosted many member events. Barbara brought joy to all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Campbell, her parents, Arthur and Elsie Gosden, and her sister Pamela Matthews. Cherishing her memories are a son David Michael Campbell of St. Louis, MO; daughters Nancy Jane Dahl (Al) of Clarksville, VA and Susan Gayle Nesbitt (Chuck) of Sumter, SC; grandchildren Darcy Campbell, Jenna Dahl, Jamison Dahl, Patrick Nesbitt, and Alex Nesbitt, sisters Daphne Breu and Ann Gosden, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 111 Sixth Street, Clarksville, VA 23927. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. The family would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of MeadowView Terrace for their excellent care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association at www.mecklenburgcancer.org. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.wclfh.com.
