Barbara J Dixon, of Clarksville, VA passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Clarksville Health and Rehab Center after a long battle with vascular dementia. She was 90. The daughter of the late Walter L Goodall and Bertha M Galyan Goodall, she was born on May 27, 1930 in Bloomington, IN. Barbara married James M Dixon on June 6, 1956. James predeceased her in November 2001. Barbara was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and shared the Bible’s message with others for nearly 50 years. Barbara is survived by her children, Timothy Dixon and his wife Tami of Cayuga, IN, Nancy Parker and her husband Michael of Eaton, OH, and Matthew Dixon and his wife Susan of Clarksville, VA, and her grandchildren, Shanna, Micah and Benjamin as well as two great-grandchildren. Barbara was also predeceased by her brother Kenneth Goodall and survived by two sisters, Phyllis Craig and Cathy Hendricks. Barbara genuinely enjoyed people, especially children. After graduating from Indiana University, she worked as an art teacher at elementary schools. Barbara shared her students’ youthful curiosity and never stopped in her quest to learn. The titles of her paintings were as unique as the artwork itself, which exemplified Barbara’s colorful personality. After retirement, she volunteered full-time in teaching people about the Creator. She loved all members of her immediate and extended family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She loved going on scenic country drives and having a good cup of tea at restaurants with family & friends. She was known for being loyal, thoughtful, and generous to a fault. Her sweet nature and sense of humor made her a true joy to be around. Barbara’s favorite song was “Keep Your Eyes on the Prize!” based on 2 Corinthians 4:18 and the scriptural verse she treasured the most was Revelation 21:4. We share her strong faith in the time soon to come when Jehovah God, through his Kingdom, will make the earth a paradise free of the effects of sin and death. The family has received cremation services from Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville, VA. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.wclfh.com.
