Barbara Cole Holt

SOUTH BOSTON Mrs. Barbara Cole Holt of South Boston, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2020. She was born in Halifax County on July 2, 1942 to the late Fred Noblin Cole and the late Ruth Talley Cole and was married for 58 years to Edward Thomas Holt, who survives. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment spent with them. She especially loved her role as “granny” to her only grandchild, Isaiah. She also was a very dedicated care giver to the elderly. In addition to her husband, Ed, she is survived by a son, Allen Fred Holt; grandson, Isaiah Thomas Holt; brother, Tim Cole and wife, Regina; sister-in-law, Edith P. Cole; nephews, Edward F. Cole, Jr and wife, Tanya, Jamie T. Cole and wife, April and Shane Cole; niece, Tammy Thaxton; brother-in-law, Bobby Holt of Roxboro, NC; 5 great nieces; 5 great nephews; 2 great great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Willie T. Holt; daughter, Lee Ann Holt; sister, Brenda Thaxton; brothers, Edward F. Cole, Sr and Glenn Cole. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with Reverend Don Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 2:00 – 3:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
