Barbara Tingen Smart

Barbara Tingen Smart passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born in Vance County, NC on October 7, 1934 to the late Wilton H. Tingen and the late Coreen Faucette Tingen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Washington Smart. Barbara was employed for over 40 years as an inspector with Burlington Industries. She loved cooking, the beach, gardening and sitting on her front porch. She always enjoyed the bus trips with Clarence. Her family was very important to her and she was devoted to all of them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leaving behind to cherish her memories are her daughters, Sandra Tuck (Allen) of Nelson and Donna Ballew of North Wilkesboro, NC; grandchildren, Matthew Ballew and Danielle Chouteau (Marc); great grandchildren, Courtney Tuck, Mason Tuck, Dillon Tuck, Adriana Chouteau and Zoey Chouteau; brother, W.H. Tingen, Jr (Judy) of Oxford, NC; and a sister, Jean Beam (Lee Roy) of Bullock, NC.In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Tuck; brothers, Ray Tingen and Wayne Tingen; and a sister, Shirley Hall. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel with Reverend Joe Don Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Marrow's Chapel UMC Cemetery, Bullock, NC.The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday, from 12:30-2 PM at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
