Bayne Gray Steele

Oxford, NC Bayne Gray Steele, Sr., husband of the late Barbara Sue Steele, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the age of 83.He was born on September 3, 1934 in Burlington, NC to the late Winona Wilhelm and Donald Howard Steele.Bayne graduated from North Carolina State University and worked as an electrical engineer. He was a devoted Wolfpack fan and an avid bowler. Bayne was passionate about his service with the Knights of Columbus and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Clarksville, VA. Cherishing his memories are his daughter, Cynthia Steele; sons Bayne G. Steele, Jr. of Hayward, CA and Michael Craig Steele of Honolulu, HI; granddaughter, Margaret Steele of Pacific Grove, CA; sisters Helen Black of Galax, VA and Bessie Christman of White, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife and parents, Bayne was preceded in death by brothers, Gary E. Steele and Donald H. Steele, Jr. A Catholic Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.Rev. Fr. Augustine Lukenge will officiate.
