Bertha Davis Martin

Mrs. Bertha Davis Martin of 1108 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, VA, died on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the age of 82. She was born on April 17, 1931 to the late Albert Quincy Davis and the late Alice Newby Davis and was married to the late Robert Noland Martin, Sr. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in South Boston and a former machine operator with Carddock Terry Shoe Company. Mrs. Martin is survived by her sons, Dean Martin and wife Dale of Axton, VA Robert N. Martin, Jr. and wife June; sister, Margie Jones, brother, Albert Davis both of South Boston, grandchildren, Donna Kazor, David Martin, Lillian Martin, Robert R. Martin and Crystal Martin; great grandchildren, Coy, Mallory and Jacey Kazor, Devin, Dylan and Destiny Martin, Erin Jones, Paige Conner, Kalyn Conner, Evan Gwynn and Samantha Martin. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers Joe Davis, Lewis Davis and William Davis; and four sisters Elsie Hamm, Lavania Yancey, Lossie Choplin and Inez Morris. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 30, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and at other times at the home, 1108 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, VA.
