Betsy Rice Loftis

Betsy Rice Loftis of Nelson, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the age of 73. Born on December 19, 1948 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Lonie Wilkins Rice and Robert Kent Rice, Sr. Betsy worked as a secretary for Dr. Gupton, optometrist. She will be remembered as a resilient woman of unwavering faith, who loved her family unconditionally. Betsy was a member of Averett Baptist Church. Cherishing their memories are Betsy’s daughter, Jeannie Garner (Todd Champion); grandchildren, Amber Williamson (Daniel) and Brandon Garner; great grandchildren Mackenzie Williamson and Kaylee Garner; her sister, Judith Whitlow (Steve) and friend, James Loftis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Kent Rice, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 12th in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with a private burial to follow in the Rice Family Cemetery.
