Betty Grainger Blalock

Betty Grainger Blalock, age 93, of Clarksville, VA, passed away on Saturday, August 10th, 2024. She was born on Saturday, August 1st, 1931 in Colbert County, Alabama to the late Franklin C. Posey and Mattie Posey. Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, William H. Grainger, Sr. and James Randolph Blalock.

Betty graduated from high school in Colbert County, Alabama and went on to have a successful 47-year career as a secretary at Burlington Industries. Betty was a dedicated member of Clarksville Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking and crafts such as quilting, knitting, and most notably, making baby blankets for the hospital nursery.  Betty also supported the Mecklenburg Rescue Squad with her generous donations.

She is survived by her loving sons, William "Bill" Grainger (Gayle) of Clarksville, VA and Linwood "Lin" A. Grainger of Clarksville, VA; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  Betty will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held in Betty's honor on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 11 AM in the Watkins Cooper Lyon chapel, with burial to follow in Oakhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clarksville Baptist Church or Mecklenburg Rescue Squad.
