Clarksville, VA -- Betty Pulley Wiles passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at the age of 80. She was born in Brodnax, VA, on February 5, 1941, the daughter of the late William H. Clary and the late Gracie Blanton Clary. Betty was married to the late Billy Wiles. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Betty worked at Burlington Industries for about 35 years until the plant closed. She also worked at Sentara Meadowview Terrace for 5 years before retiring. She loved volunteer work and gave her time to the Clarksville Ruritan Thrift Store, the Clarksville Museum, and the Community Garden, as well as serving on numerous committees. Betty really loved people and she especially loved playing Chicken Foot weekly with her friends at the Clarksville Library. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, who loved her hometown of Clarksville. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Dennis of South Boston; one son, Danny Wiles and wife, Marie, of Clarksville; grandchildren who she loved more than life, Amanda Woltz (Stevie) of Greensboro, Jason Dennis of Roanoke, Ryan Wiles (Jackie) of Chase City, Ellie and Will Wiles of Clarksville; a great grandchild, Carrington Wiles of Chase City; brothers, Lawrence Pulley and Bobby Dale Pulley (Carol Sue) and one very devoted sister, Dee Bennett (Henry). A graveside service will be held at 3 P.M.on Friday, February 12, 2021, at Oakhurst Cemetery with the Reverend Chet Bergeron officiating. In keeping with CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing will be required. The service will be livestreamed on the Watkins Cooper Lyon Facebook page. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at graveside. In lieu of flowers, Betty would like for donations to Buffalo Baptist Church be considered.
