Bettye Jo Sheldon Tucker of Clarksville, VA went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 10, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born in Lenoir City, TN on August 30, 1935, to the late Anderson Franklin Brown and Nettie Arden Brown. Bettye worked for Craddock-Terry Shoe factory in Chase City until it’s closure, then Timberland Shoe Company in Mt. City, TN and finally for Capps Shoe Co. in Gretna before retiring. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, but her passion was singing the praises of the Lord. She loved the Christian fellowship of her church and would sing often as a soloist. She was a member of Averett Baptist Church. Surviving are Sue Vaughan (Joseph) of Nelson, Curtis Sheldon (Lisa) of Skipwith, Franklin Sheldon of Clarksville and Lisa Tucker (Vince) of Washington, DC; brother, Gary Brown (Sandra) of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Todd Vaughan (Kelli), Heather Rogers (Scott), Bryan Sheldon and Mary Sheldon; great grandchildren, Madisyn Rogers, Landry Rogers, Joseph Vaughan and Kaitlyn Rose. Bettye was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Lawrence B. Tucker and Dalton E. Sheldon as well as brothers, Anderson Brown, Jr. and J.B. Brown. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, January 14 in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodland Cemetery in Chase City.
