Billy Alfred Perkins

HALIFAX Mr. Billy Alfred Perkins passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the age of 76. Born in Halifax County on March 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Thomas Henry Perkins and the late Ruth Fuller Perkins. Billy retired from Formply Products, Inc. in South Boston. He loved astronomy, flying kites, collecting coins, reading his Bible and was a member of Revelation Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting all his friends. He never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Leaving behind to cherish his memories is his sister, Beulah Perkins Chappell of Vernon Hill; niece, Cathy Tate and husband Sammy of South Boston; nephew, Jamie Chappell and wife Tabitha of Vernon Hill; great nieces, Annabella Chappell and Abigail Chappell; special cousin, David Hazelwood who was raised with Billy like a brother; and not to be forgotten, his special pets, Jack and Sparky. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Thomas James Chappell. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Revelation Baptist Church with Reverend Kenny Dunn and Reverend Billy Coghill officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times the home of his sister.
