Bobby Lee Murray

South Boston, VA – Bobby Lee Murray, husband of Joyce Honeycutt Murray, went to be with his Lord on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the age of 82. Born in Granville County, NC, on October 3, 1939, he was the son of the late Alonza and Louise Whitt Murray. Bobby was retired from ABB, where he worked as a supervisor for 34 years. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sports fan, particularly of the UNC Tarheels and the New York Yankees. In addition, Bobby had a strong sense of family and community. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 8 as well as the Hyco Road Ruritan Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Laura Eissing and husband, Mark; son, Chris Murray and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Christa Ewing (Nathaniel), Andrew Eissing, Caylee Williams (Daniel), Cassidy Eissing, Cara Villaspin (Alec), Chloe Eissing, Carly Eissing, Alexander Eissing; great grandchildren, Dabney, Nathaniel Jr., Evangeline and Rowan. Bobby is also survived by a sister, Joyce Ann Hodnett; brother, Leonard Murray (Jan) and numerous special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Florence Avenue Baptist Church with Reverend Herbert Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning one hour before the service.
