Bullock, NC - Bobby Ray Williams went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the age of 54.He was born on November 24, 1963 in Granville County to Becky Short Thompson and the late Donald Ray Williams. Bobby was a 1982 graduate of J.F. Webb High School and a 1993 graduate of Barton College. He taught school in both Granville and Wake counties and then worked for the N.C. Department of Public Instruction until his retirement.Bobby was an active member at Spring Valley United Methodist Church where he served as the music director. He was the president of Kerr Lake Ministries. He is survived by his son, Joshua Ray Williams (Jenna) of Henderson; grandchildren, Connor Ray Williams, Brelynn Paige Williams, Daniel Ramsey, Haidyn Nelson, Bobby Dale Baker, Naomi Grace Baker, Kylie Rae May and Stephen Joe May; life partner, Kenneth Holland of Bullock; mother, Becky Thompson (Jimmy) of Bullock; sisters, Barbara Elliott of Bullock, Patricia Tingen (Mike) of Oxford and Jean Martin of Bullock; brothers, Donnie Ray Roop (Robin) of Quarryville, PA, Steven Ray Williams of Amboy, WA and Bryan Ray Williams of Henderson as well as several nieces and nephews.Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Williams; parents, Herbert and Dorothy Short; uncle, Roger Williams; brother-in-law, Allen Dale Elliott; and nephew, Chad Taylor Barker. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Spring Valley United Methodist Church with the Reverend Johnny Yount and the Reverend Ray Pearce officiating.Burial will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford, NC.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 4 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA and other times at the residence.
