Bonnie C. Hitson went to be with the Lord on Thursday May 5, 2022 at the age of 74. Known to the community as “Ms. Bonnie”, she was born in Richmond, VA on May 25, 1947 to the late Charles S. Chinault and Lovelene B. Chinault. As a member of the first graduating class of St Mary’s Hospital she went on to serve the community as a dialysis nurse gracing everyone she met with a smile. When Ms. Bonnie was not helping people as a nurse, she was teaching kids in the classroom. She was a teacher for over two decades teaching pre-school school as well as being one of the most sought-after substitute teachers for Mecklenburg County Schools. Bonnie’s true passion was her love for Christ and her church. She was a devoted member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Blackridge, VA and could always be found singing in the Choir on Sundays. Bonnie’s devotion to Christ could be seen in many ways throughout her life. She was an involved member of the youth programs at church and very active in Vacation Bible School. Her love, ministry, and selfless acts touched many lives through conversations and handwritten cards. Cherishing her memories are her son, Ryan Hitson (Kristin), Kevin Jones (Kristy); her three grandchildren, Emmerson, Keenan, and Parker; her two grandfurbabies, Saylor and Tiggle and her cat, TC. Bonnie was proceeded in joining the eternal Lord by her siblings Diane and Kenny Chinault and her beloved husband of 34 years, Jim Hitson. Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA 23927 is handling arrangements.
