Brenda Stocks Ellixson

Virginia Beach, VA - Brenda S. Ellixson, 72, wife of Graham J. Ellixson for 36 years, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2016.She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Lucy W. Stocks, her brothers, Troy and Vernon I. Stocks.She is survived by her sister Peggy S. Lewis (Lyle), stepson Andrew Ellixson (Mary), stepdaughter Bonnie E. Lyons (Robert), sister-in-law Loretta Perry, brother-in-law Lawrence Ellixson (Patricia) and four step-grandchildren.Brenda’s pastimes were reading her Bible daily, visiting her hummingbird (getaway) home on the SHORE along with communications with past and present friends.She graduated from East Carolina College, was an elementary school teacher for many years before transitioning to real estate.She was a founding member of Havelock First Baptist Church and member of the choir.She also was a faithful member of Kings Grant Baptist Church in Virginia Beach.She was loved by her husband, many friends and relatives, and will be greatly missed.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016 in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA with burial to follow in Oakhurst Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.A memorial service will be held at Kings Grant Baptist Church, 873 Little Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
