Brenda Bates Powell

Mrs. Brenda Bates Powell of 1081 Copley Springs Rd., South Boston, VA died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the age of 65. She was born in Charlotte Co., VA on February 9, 1948 to the late Frank Bates and the late Mary Jones Bates and was married to Ernest Powell. Mrs. Powell was babysitter and she attended Glenwood United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ernest Powell of South Boston, VA; a son, Jamie Powell and wife, Rebecca of South Boston, VA; a daughter, Brittany Powell of Roxboro, NC; a sister, Diane Austin and husband, Harry of Scottsburg, VA; a brother, Ken Bates and wife, Betty of Cumberland, VA; and one grandchild, Makayla Powell. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Laline Adkins, and one brother, Addison Bates. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Glenwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM and at other times at the home.
