Brenda Cole Thaxton

SOUTH BOSTON, VA Mrs. Brenda Cole Thaxton of South Boston passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at the age of 70.Born in Halifax County on May 9, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Fred Noblin Cole and the late Ruth Talley Cole and was married to the late Larry W. Thaxton, Sr. Brenda was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and was a former cafeteria worker at ABB. She loved the beach and her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Evette Thaxton of New Jersey; sister, Barbara C. Holt and husband, Edward of South Boston; brother, Tim D. Cole and wife, Gina of South Boston; sister in law, Edith Cole of South Boston; grandchildren, Austin W. Thaxton and wife, Lauren of Clarksville, Sarah Austin and fiancé, Mike of Roxboro, NC, Brooke McCarty and husband, Bobby of Kernersville, NC, Dalton Thaxton of South Boston, Erin Thaxton of Roxboro, NC and Bryce Thaxton of Roxboro, NC; great grandchild, Cole Drake Courson of Roxboro, NC. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry W. Thaxton, Jr. and brothers, Edward F. Cole and Glenn T. Cole. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel. Burial will follow in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.
