Burlin Allen "Al" Gregory

CHASE CITY - On Tuesday, February 6, 2018, God called his child, Burlin Allen Gregory, Jr. to his eternal home.“Al” was born in Newport News, VA on September 23, 1957, the son of the late Burlin Allen Gregory, Sr. and Sandra Cooley Gregory.Being the son of a military father, Al and his family traveled and lived in many places. He himself served in the U.S. Marine Corp before joining the civilian workforce. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for Burlington Industries until the plant’s closing and then at GST. Al’s interests included photography and skeet shooting. His three grandchildren were his utmost pride and joy. Al is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Janet Wilson Gregory; sons, Burlin Allen Gregory, III and wife, Sarah of Chase City and Christopher Scott Gregory of Burlington, NC; sisters and brother, Debra Johnson of Bracey, Lisa Purohit and husband, Girish of Farmville, Jim Gregory and wife, Kim of Cary, NC, and Diane Edmonds of Brodnax; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lindsey, and Aidan; devoted friend, Monty Kelly; and his sidekick, George. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2:00 at New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Reynolds and Dr. Diane Edmonds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of choice in his honor.
