Calvin H. "Sput" Jones

South Boston - Mr. Calvin H. “Sput” Jones, of South Boston passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the age of 62.He was born on March 30, 1958 to the late William H. “Bill” Jones III and the late Myrna Terry Jones and was married to Angela Hale “Angie” Jones. Sput was a retired firefighter and EMT for the Town of South Boston. He was a lifetime member of South Boston Fire Co. and the Halifax County Rescue Squad and a life member and past President of the Southside Virginia Volunteer Firefighter Association. His many passions included traveling and visiting his fellow firefighters and his firefighting customers. He loved all things racing and for many years, he was the Safety Director at the South Boston Speedway. Sput also attended Ash Ave. Baptist Chuch. In addition to his wife, Angie, Sput is survived by his son, Matthew Jones and wife, Megan;his daughter, Sarah Spencer and husband, Tony; his grandchild, Caitlin Comer; his brother, Michael Terry “Mike” Jones and wife, Sandra; his nephew, Patrick Jones; his aunt, Liz Bates; and several cousins. Funeral services for Sput Jones will be held on Monday, May 18, 2020 at 12:00 noon at the South Boston Fire Company Support Building with the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The service will be live-streamed on our Facebook page. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
