Nelson, VA - Carl Thomas Chandler, 93, husband of Myrtle May Green Chandler, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019.Carl was born December 8, 1925 in Mecklenburg County.His parents were the late Yuill E. Chandlerand Ellnora Whitt Chandler.A graduate of Clarksville High School with the Class of 1943, Carl was a World War II Army veteran.He was employed with Burlington Industries for 21 years; Daystrom Furniture for 19 years, retiring in 1996, and farmed all of his adult life.He was an ordained Deacon by Hebron Christian Church in 1946 and later became a member of Clarksville Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board and as Chairman.He was also a member of Gideons International. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Clarksville Baptist Church with the Reverends Greg Randall and Jane Lyon officiating.Interment will follow at Oakhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 19 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home. In addition to his wife of 72 years, Carl is survived by his son, Thomas Green Chandler and wife, Veronica, of Fort Neches, TX; daughter, Mary Chandler Blanks and husband, Kevin, of Nelson; and granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Blanks of Lynchburg; brother Jessie Chandler and wife, Ann, of Clarksville and sister Laura V.
