Carl Arnold "Sonny" Satterfield

SOUTH BOSTON - Mr. Carl Arnold “Sonny” Satterfield of South Boston passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the age of 76. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on August 6, 1942 the son of the late William Satterfield and the late Bessie Carter Satterfield. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Satterfield loved his country and was a member of American Legion Post 8 and VFW Post 8243. He loved spending time outdoors with his dog, Jake. Survivors include a son, Adam Satterfield and wife, Houston of Greensboro, NC; a daughter, Carla Satterfield Peake and husband, Gordon of Durham, NC; brothers, Earnest Satterfield of Scottsburg, J.C. Satterfield of South Boston, Odell Satterfield and wife, Linda of South Boston, and James Carter and wife, Doris of Virgilina; and grandchildren, Tyler Andrews, Josh Andrews, Andrew Satterfield, and Natalie Satterfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ethel Zanon and Betty Pruitt, and a brother, Billy Satterfield. Funeral services for Mr. Satterfield will be held at a later date at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Sunday, September 9 from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM & at other times at 3167 Dan River Church Rd., South Boston.
