Carol Ashe Bigger

Chase City, VA - Mrs. Carol Ashe Bigger, wife of Curtis Benjamin Bigger, left us to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the age of 57.She was born on Febuary 15, 1960 in McNairy, TN to Ardith Gatewood Ashe and Clyde Raymond Ashe.Carol received Master Degrees in Christian Education from Union University and Special Education from Longwood University.She was employed with the Mecklenburg County School System for 19 years as a Special Education teacher.Carol was very active in her community and her church.Carol served as a deacon, pianist and director of Vacation Bible School at Black Branch Baptist Church and a minister of Education and Family Life for 8 years at First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Mary Wood Garden Club, the Chase City Ruritan Club and the Southern Virginia Daylily Club. Carol Ashe Bigger is survived by her husband, Curtis; mother, Ardith Ashe of Selmer, TN;father and his wife, Clyde and Lovetta Ashe of Cornith, MS; sister, Sandra Ashe of Selmer; brothers, Ken Ashe of Somerville, TN and Doug Ashe of Nashville, TN.She is also survived by close friends, Elsa Cristina Gailor and Mattie Forbes and her beloved pet, Sugar Behr. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA. Funeral services for Mrs. Bigger will be held at Black Branch Baptist Church on Sunday, May 28, at 2 pm with burial to follow in Woodland Cemetery.The Reverend Dr. Gene Burris and the Reverend Jane Lyon will officiate.
