Catherine Dodson Lacy

HALIFAX Mrs. Catherine Dodson Lacy of Halifax, VA passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the age of 85.She was born on March 28, 1934 to the late John Dodson and the late Hattie Hawker Dodson and was married to George Thomas Lacy, III.In 1974, she retired from Westinghouse (now ABB), and was a member of Old Mill Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, George T. “Tom” Lacy, III of Halifax; two sons, Steven K. Anderson (Gwen) of Danville and Charles Anderson, Sr. of South Boston; two step-children, Gregory Lacy (Gil) of South Boston and Kimberly Banko (Paul) of Angier, NC; two sisters, Verda Leonard and Audrey Kinder both of Danville; a brother, Roy Dodson of Blackstone; seven grandchildren, Ryan K. Anderson (Stephanie), C. Bruce Anderson, Jr (Erin), R. Kyle Anderson (Rebecca), Emily Causey (Anthony), Joseph Banko (Lindsey), Joshua Lacy (Alyssa), Katelyn Stranger (Robert), and by eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Roger Kent Anderson; three sisters, Hattie Baynes, Eunice Hair, and Irma Atkins and two brothers, Kenneth Dodson and Henry Dodson. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 2 PM in the Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with the Reverend Larry Davis officiating.Burial will follow in Oak Level Presbyterian Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of her son, Charles Anderson, Sr., 1073 South Peach Orchard Road, South Boston, VA 24592.
