Catherine Bittle Sizemore

Buffalo Junction, VA - Catherine Bittle Sizemore, 90, of Buffalo Junction, VA, wife of LeRoy Sizemore died on April 6, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center.Catherine was born in Fauquier County, VA to Ida Tune Bittle and Clarence Oscar Bittle.She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Walter (Jay) Bittle and her husband. After graduating from Madison College in Harrisonburg, VA in 1947, she taught public school music at Mount Vernon High School in Fairfax County, VA.She later married LeRoy Sizemore and became a homemaker.She was a member of the Clarksville Baptist Church, where she volunteered to serve as Choir Director for 41 years. She was loved by her son, Dennis Edward Sizemore and wife Caroline, and a daughter Martha S. Aitken and husband, George Aitken (deceased), four grandsons – Matthew and wife, Katie, Adam and wife, Megan, James and wife, Samantha and Michael, and four nieces and their families. Visitation will be Friday, April 8, 2016 from 5 – 7 pm at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA.Services will be held in the chapel of the Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville on Saturday, April 9 at 4 pm. with the Reverend Jane Lyon officiating.Burial will be in Oakhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mecklenburg County Rescue Squad or the Lake County SPCA.
