Cathryn Wallen Culley

Cathryn Virginia Wallen Culley, of Clover, passed away on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 at the age of 77. She was born on April 22nd, 1947 in Halifax County to the late Junior Claude Wallen and the late Nellie Mae Fears Wallen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Davies Culley, Sr.

Cathryn spent over 30 years contributing to Burlington Industries in Halifax and Drakes Branch. In her later years, she also filled in at the post office. An avid gardener, Cathryn found joy in tending to her flowers and took great pleasure in the simple beauty of bird watching. Her greatest delight, however, was spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Cathryn is survived by her children, Jimmie D. Culley, Jr. (Penny) and Jeanette Culley Martin (Mitchell), along with 6 grandchildren, Jacob Culley (Ashley), Joshua Culley, Caitlin Culley, Robert Martin, PFC Jimmie Martin and Annie Elizabeth Martin; step grandchild, Mitchell Thomas Martin II; great grandchildren, Cooper and Sydney Culley; step great grandchildren, Emory and Slade Martin; aunt, Anne Wallen; and special friends, Becky Moorefield and Linda Williams, who she spoke with daily.
Along with her parents she was predeceased by her beloved spouse, and her brother, Gordon Wayne Wallen.

A Funeral service  will be held on Monday, January 27th, at Clover Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Clover Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26th, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
