Charles Philip "Charlie" Meeler

Mr. Charles Philip "Charlie" Meeler of 611 Brooks Street, Wake Forest, NC 27587, formerly of Alton, VA, died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the age of 89. He was born in Halifax County, VA on November 28, 1922 to the late Fletcher Claude Meeler, Sr. and the late Nannie Irene Gravitt Meeler, and was married to the late Edith Earp Meeler. Mr. Meeler was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, was a Mason, and was retired from the textile industry. He was a US Army veteran of WW II. Survivors include a son, Charles Philip Meeler, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Knightdale, NC; a daughter, Pamela C. Meeler of Elgin, SC, two sisters-in-law, Edith W. Meeler of Alton, VA and Barbara Earp Demnisky of Danville, VA; two brothers-in-law, Fuller Earp of Richmond, VA and Curtis Earp of Danville, VA; and by two grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia A. Barnett, a son, Donald P. Meeler, a brother, Fletcher Claude Meeler, Jr. and a sister, Gertie Saunders. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Danville, VA with Rev. Daryl Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends at Calvary United Methodist Church following the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local hospice or your local church.
