Charles Edward Wagner

December 28, 1924 — October 1, 2005

Mr. Charles Edward Wagner, 80, husband of LaVaille Propst Wagner died Saturday in Charlotte, NC. Ed was native to Chase City, had lived in Clarksville for many years prior to moving to South Boston and later to Charlotte, NC to be near family. He retired from the Department of Transportation where he served as Superintendent of Building and Grounds. He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post in Chase City. A member of Black Walnut Baptist Church for the past three years, prior he was very active at Clarksville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Monday 2 PM at the Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville. Officiating will be the Rev. H.V. Conner and Dr. Melvin Bradshaw. Entombment rites will be conducted by the Chase City American Legion Post at the Woodland Mausoleum. Surviving are children Griffin and Nancy Burton of Charlotte, NC and Vicky and David Payne of Wichita Fall, Texas; grandchildren Nicole Hedges, Kimberly DeVore and Joseph Thomas; great grandchildren Tyler and Nathan Jenkins. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM & 7-8:30 PM at the funeral home.
