Charlie Monroe Clark

SOUTH BOSTON Mr. Charlie Monroe Clark, Sr. of South Boston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the age of 76 following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on March 26, 1941 the son of Mary Elizabeth Morris Clark and the late Benjamin Morton Clark and was married to Linda Short Clark. Charlie retired from Estes Express Lines, was recently employed by Tammy Wall Hauling, and was a very dedicated member of Bluestone Baptist Church. He loved his family, life, and enjoyed driving, working and mowing grass. Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Linda S. Clark of South Boston; mother, Mary Elizabeth Morris Clark of South Boston; daughter, Karen C. Allen and husband, Mike of South Boston; three sons, Dale M. Clark of Fairfield, OH, Charlie M. Clark, Jr. and wife, Tracy of Virgilina, and Timothy S. Clark and wife, Dawn of South Boston; nine grandchildren, Kristin A. Barton and husband, Billy, Amber Clark, Justin Allen and fiancé, Amy Aherron, David Clark, Benjamin Clark, Hannah Clark, Ashley Clark, Aaron Clark, and Noah Clark; four great grandchildren, Caleb, Mackenzie, Emma, and Madison Barton; and two sisters, Gracie Lorene Clark of Halifax and Shirley C. Taylor and husband, Alan of Brookneal. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Morton Clark and brother, B. Lee Clark. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with Dr. Ryan McGuire and Brother Frankie Reaves officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Friday, April 14 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home, 1033 Leigh McKay Trail, South Boston.
