Charlie Robert Smith

Charlie Robert Smith of Halifax passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the age of 81.  He was born in Halifax County on December 31, 1943 to the late John William Smith and the late Evelyn Carlton Smith.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Vicks Smith.

Charlie was employed by Hitachi for 50 years. He loved his work and all his co-workers.  His past time was fishing and spending time with his children & grandchildren. He was a people person, always enjoyed talking with everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Michael Smith of Florence, SC; daughter, Scarlett Moore & husband, B.J. of Chesapeake, VA; sisters, Nancy S. Haskins (Charles) of Halifax, VA & Doris Tuck of Roxboro, NC; brothers, Howard Smith of Roxboro, NC & Richard Smith (Becky) of South Boston; grandchildren, Madison Taylor Smith, Morgan Brooke Smith, Olivia Sage Moore & Blake Wylder Moore. Also survived by a sister-in-law, Louise Smith and Tamara Seamster Smith, mother of Madison and Morgan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Oscar James Smith & Raymond Smith.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at his home.
