Charlotte Elliott Cox

Mrs. Charlotte Elliott Cox of 6136 Huell Matthews Hwy, South Boston, VA died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the age of 82. She was born in Granville County, NC on April 29, 1931 to the late Lee Elliott and the late Minnie Bray Elliott, and was married to the late Giles Edward "Ned" Cox, Sr. Mrs. Cox was a retired mender for Burlington Industries, Clarksville, VA, and a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Judy C. Green (David) of South Boston, VA, Sandra C. Smith (Van) also of South Boston,VA; one son, Bill D. Cox of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Herman Elliott (Susan) of Oxford, NC and Bob Elliott (Brenda) of Bullock, NC; four sisters, Erselle Cole (James) of South Boston, VA, Hazel Tuck (Luther) of South Boston, VA, Ernestine Newton of Oxford, NC, and Mary Ann Hughes of Nathalie, VA; three grandchildren, Kelly Comer (Stuart) of Virgilina, Stephanie Snead of South Boston, and Travis Snead (Brittany) of Moneta, VA; four great grandchildren, Stephen, Brooke and Grant Comer, and Jacie Snead; and by her special caregiver and friend, Lillie Tysinger. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, James Lee Cox and Giles Edward Cox, Jr., two brothers, Rufus Elliott and Garnie Elliott, and one sister, Jean Wilson. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Grassy Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Stewart and Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Brooks Funeral Home from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at her home.
