Charlotte Puckett Hayes

Charlotte Puckett Hayes of Nelson, VA passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the age of 91.  She was born in Granville County, NC on April 27, 1933 to the late Oscar Allen Puckett and the late Annie Mae Riggan Puckett.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Thomas Grey Hayes.

Charlotte was a former employee with Russell Stover and also a bus driver & cafeteria manager for Mecklenburg County schools. She was a very active member of Averett Baptist Church.  Charlotte was a sweet, kind and giving person having been raised on a farm, married a farmer and raised 3 boys. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & sister, she will always be remembered.

She is survived by sons, L. Allen Hayes (Teresa) & Linwood Martin Hayes (Nancye Renae); grandchildren, Summer Bynum Lykins, T.J. Hayes & Christopher Hayes; great grandchild, Nathan Lykins; and sister, Linda White (David).
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ray Hayes; brothers, Macy & Earl; half brothers, Alvis, James, Carl, Fred and Taylor; and half sister, Mildred Daniel.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Averett Baptist Church with Reverend Rodney Barwick and Christopher Hayes officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakhurst Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Averett Baptist Church.
