Charlotte Bennett Lewis

Mrs. Charlotte Bennett Lewis of 1051 Hendricks Rd., Halifax died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the age of 79. She was born in Halifax Co. on March 28, 1931 to the late Henry J. and Lizzie Younger Bennett and was married to Jerry M. Lewis. Mrs. Lewis was retired from Burlington Industries and was a lifelong member of McKendree United Methodist Church where she served as organist/pianist for many years. She is survived by her husband, Jerry M. Lewis of Halifax; daughters, Patricia B. Bradshaw and husband, Lloyd of Alton and Carolyn B. Strohm and husband, Jay of Halifax; son, Ralph Lee "Butch" Barker and wife, Billie of Halifax; step daughter, Cynthia Poole; step son, Jay Lewis; sister, Justyne B. Fisher and husband, Joe T. Fisher, Jr.; grandchildren, Tracy Reaves, Christy Sherrill, Jason Strohm, Brandy Conner, Nick Strohm, Lee Barker, and A.J. Barker; step grandchildren, Stephanie Lewis, Jamie Lewis, Jared Lewis, Lynsey Lewis, Christen Martin, and Chelsea Poole; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 step grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM at McKendree United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Stewart and Rev. Brian Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at McKendree United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 20, 2010 from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM and at other times at the home of Carolyn & Jay Strohm, 1051 Hendricks Rd., Halifax. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, VA 24592.
