Christine Mattie Hazelwood

NATHALIE, VA Mrs. Christine Mattie Hazelwood, widow of Gregory Bernard Hazelwood, Sr. passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the age of 77. She was born on December 25, 1940 in Halifax County to the late Walter Edward Scott and the late Irene Mae Lindsey. Christine was of the Baptist faith and her passion was farming, cooking and her grandchildren. She is survived by sons, Ben Hazelwood of the home, and Mike Hazelwood of Danville; daughter, Norma Bryant and husband, Cliff of Martinsville; grandchildren, Savannah Hazelwood of Danville, Kristal Chitwood and husband, Chris of Goldsboro, NC, and Corky Bryant and wife, Tonya of Bassett, VA; great grandchildren, Levi and Abbi; sister, Janie Scott of Clover and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gregory “Pete” Hazelwood, Jr. Graveside services for Mrs. Hazelwood will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Hazelwood Family Cemetery, 11235 L.P. Bailey Hwy, Nathalie, VA.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 6 PM – 8 PM and at other times the home, 11235 L.P. Bailey Hwy., Nathalie, VA.
