SOUTH BOSTON - Mr. Claborne Barksdale "C.B." Dixon of South Boston died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the age of 80. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on April 8, 1935 to the late James Jack Dixon and the late Frances Landrum Dixon and was married to Catherine Barksdale Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a member of Second Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and was a general contractor. He was a veteran of the U.S Air Force and a member of American Legion Post 8. C.B. loved fishing with his grandchildren, building clocks, spending time in his workshop, and going to yard sales with his wife. Survivors include his wife, Catherine B. Dixon; daughters, Cindy McConnel and husband, Lee of Chester, VA, Kathy Talley and husband, Walter of Buffalo Junction, VA, and Vickie Carroll and husband, Mike of Goochland, VA; son, Randy Dixon and wife, Rene of South Boston; sisters, Joyce Powell of Danville, VA and Virginia Crews of South Boston; brother, Harry Dixon of South Boston; grandchildren, Christie McConnel, C.J. McConnel, Craig McConnel and wife, Rene, Heather Cox and husband, Josh, Ryan Dixon, Ricky Boyd and wife, Samantha, Michael Carroll and fiance, Emma, and Kevin Carroll; and great grandchildren, Celeste, Olivia, and Paisley. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Nathan Lee Talley, brothers, Wilson Dixon, Charlie Dixon, Conway Dixon, and Gene Dixon, and sister, Mary Dixon. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Second Baptist Church with the Reverend James McAllister and the Reverend Lee McConnel officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Sunday, April 3 from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home, 1312 Shepherd St., South Boston.
